PRAYERS

The Collect for 1st Sunday of Advent

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which Your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; so that on the last day, when He shall come again in His glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through Him who is alive and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Prayers for this week:
Diocese of Singapore
  • In the next five years, more than 30 of our clergy and deaconesses will reach retirement age. Pray for Abp. Titus as he seeks the Lord to raise up full-time workers rooted in Christ and ready to serve His Church.
  • Next year, the Anglican Church in the Province of Southeast Asia marks its 30th anniversary. Pray for the Province to hold fast to the authority of Scripture, our historic Anglican order and practice, mutual accountability and generous partnership for the sake of the Gospel.
  • As a Diocese let us pray fervently for the Anglican Communion; that the Lord will purify His Church, renew her witness and unite His people in truth and love.
World
  • The death toll is climbing as tens of thousands of people across Southeast Asia deal with record-breaking rain. Thailand reported more than a dozen dead. In Malaysia, authorities are scrambling to find safe housing for more than 18,000 people. Meanwhile, in Vietnam nearly 100 people have died due to the most severe flood in decades. Pray for God’s merciful intervention to put a halt to such disastrous weather and for lives to be preserved.
  • Fifty of the 303 children kidnapped by gunmen from a Catholic school in Nigeria last week have escaped. We pray for divine intervention to free all who were kidnapped.
  • We also continue to press on in prayer for peace over Israel-Hamas, Ukraine-Russia and parts of Africa-Asia afflicted by internal conflicts.
Singapore
  • Singapore and Malaysia are committed to establishing effective frameworks for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. Pray for PM Wong that this joined venture will bring economic prosperity to both countries and the strengthening of relationships between both nations.
St Hilda’s Church
  • The Cambodia Mission team is leaving on 2 Dec.2025. Pray for Svay Rieng pastors and leaders who will attend a 2-day conference and villages’ receptivity to the Gospel.
  • We commit all families in SHC to God. Pray for strong relationship between spouses and parents with children. We look to God to bind them together in faith and love. May the December holiday season be a time of refreshing for all families.
  • Pray for God’s blessings upon our Clergy, Pastoral and Admin. team and their families. May God continue to sustain and refresh them daily as they undertake their duties.
  • For all who are unwell, homebound or grieving; festive season can be a lonely time. Pray for God’s comfort and hope to fill their hearts as they reflect on the Birth of Christ.
